We still believe . . .

. . . in heroes, honesty, responsibility, integrity, unrelenting kindness, charity and the courage of true convictions held against all odds. We believe that the vast majority of adolescents also hold these same beliefs, but are frequently faced with massive peer pressure to view such concepts as weak and trivial. We provide programs that reinforce these concepts and help the adolescent to develop a code of life that adheres to them. In these beliefs rest the greatest possibility of experiencing a happy and productive life.

Obviously, every treatment program wants you to believe they are the best at what they do. So do we, and we think we can tell you why we are the best.

To start with we only build small forty-four bed units. Why? There comes a point, a tipping point, in the size of an organization where effective services and staff performance are impaired just by the size of the facility. Over thirty-five years of operation we have found that a forty-four bed unit provides the maximum population maintaining staff efficiency and patient interaction. All of our clinicians know each other and they all know the names of the adolescents in the facility, the reasons the adolescent entered the center, and the adolescent's present level of progress towards meeting his treatment goals. No one gets lost in our programs.

Varangon Academy was founded by, and is run by, clinicians with an average of thirty-five years experience in the treatment of adolescents. Some types of knowledge only come with years of experience. We are better at what we do because we have had a lot of time to find out what works and what does not work in treating the youth we serve.

We have two facilities serving the Midsouth and Midwest areas. Our Midsouth unit is located in Barlett, Tennessee near Memphis. Our Midwest unit is located in Norman, Oklahoma near Oklahoma City.
